Eurofighter Typhoon: Europe’s $130M Supersonic Jet That Dominates the Skies

Inside the Eurofighter Typhoon: How Europe Built Its Deadliest Supersonic Fighter Jet | WELT Documentary

The Eurofighter Typhoon is Europe’s crown jewel of modern aviation. Built by Germany, the UK, Italy, and Spain, this supersonic jet reaches Mach 2.3 — nearly 2,900 km/h — powered by twin EJ200 engines producing up to 150,000 horsepower.

From Bavaria to Battle: Precision Engineering in Germany
In Manching, Bavaria, German engineers assemble and maintain every Eurofighter. Each jet requires 2,500 work steps, 30,000 cable crimps, and thousands of precision parts. Nothing is left to chance — from liquid-metal seams to bird-strike engine inspections, every detail is documented.

From Dogfights to Bomb Runs
Originally designed as an air-superiority fighter, the Typhoon has evolved into a multirole combat aircraft. It can engage enemy fighters, strike ground targets with GPS- and laser-guided bombs, and deploy long-range missiles against threats unseen.

Tested by the Best
With over 680 orders worldwide, the Eurofighter is more than a machine — it’s a statement of European defense power. Fast, agile, and deadly, it remains one of the world’s most advanced fighter jets.
